1/3 scale sculpture of the iconic Bugatti Type 59 Grand Prix racing car from 1934. The Type 59 will be the last real racing car of Bugatti.

Considered by observers to be one of the most beautiful single-seater of this racing era.

In 1934, the AIACR (ex FIA) has introduced a maximum weight limit of 750 kg for Grand Prix cars. To meet this new legislation, the frame of the Type 59 has been drill.

Despite Bugatti's significant investments in this car, it was unable to fight against the competition of The  Silver Arrows. In 1934 only two victories will be entered in his palmares, Dreyfus at the Belgian Grand Prix and Wimille in Algeria.

Size :  L 190cm / W 78cm / H 55 cm

The body and the frame are made of thin ash slats, fixed with brass nails. The wheels are made in lime wood and cherrywood.

 

The steering wheel is made in walnut and aluminium. The cockpit is covered with a palissander marquetry.

The two axles are made of brass and steel. The front grille is covered with a walnut marquetry and wrapped in brass.

The dashboard is made of corked aluminium. The crankcase is covered with an amaranth marquetry and aluminium.
